About

This archive is an act of cultural preservation and a testament to presence. It says: We are here.. in London, Toronto, New York, Japan, and beyond. Our stories matter. Our contributions are valuable. Our legacy will be remembered.

Caribbean stories are often told through the lens of crisis or celebration. This project asks: what about the in-between? Tuesday afternoon at the salon. The Sunday sound system check. The mentorship that happens on gym mats.

Our mission is to document millennial/gen-Z culture, preserve oral histories and memories, as well as map the emotional geography of Caribbean culture.

Imaan Samson founded Inherited Light, a British-Caribbean visual artist whose work explores the intersection of heritage, contemporary expression and social culture.

Our primary focus is Millennial and Gen-Z Caribbean experiences, though we occasionally feature stories from other generations.
